작업에 등장하는 원과 그리드, 곡선과 파동과 같은 기하학적 구조는 완결된 형상이 아니라 감각과 정서가 흐르는 장을 형성한다. 원과 구는 존재의 하나의 단위이자 분자·세포·개체·행성으로 이어지는 다양한 규모의 은유로 확장된다. 이들은 서로의 주변을 스치며 반전되고 탈주하며, 고정된 위계를 해체하고 관계를 생성하는 살아 있는 구조로 작동한다.

그에게 기하학은 수행성과 생명성을 지닌 매개로 감각과 지각을 매번 새롭게 구성한다. 회화는 이러한 과정이 드러나는 환경이 되며, 화면 위에 부유하는 구조와 산란하는 입자의 흐름은 세계와 존재가 서로 스며드는 감각적 대기를 형성한다. 작업은 이러한 연약한 구조를 마련하며, 그 속에서 우리가 하나의 중심으로 수렴하지 않는 낯선 존재로 머물 수 있음을 제안한다.

Hyekyung Choi explores the sense of existence in its continual transformation within its relationship to the world, working primarily through geometric abstraction. Drawing on algorithmic and topological thinking, she regards geometry not as a fixed order but as a structure in constant transformation. She attends particularly to subtle tremors, displacements, and moments of fascination that arise within order, realizing through such instabilities a sensibility in which the center shifts and boundaries permeate one another.

In her work, geometric structures such as circles and grids, curves and waves do not appear as completed forms but instead form fields in which sensation and emotion flow. Circles and spheres function both as units of existence and as figures that expand metaphorically across multiple scales—from molecules and cells to individual beings and planets. As they brush past one another, these forms invert and deviate, operating as living structures that dismantle fixed hierarchies and generate relations.

For Choi, geometry is a medium endowed with performativity and vitality through which sensation and perception are continually reconfigured. Painting becomes an environment in which this process unfolds, and the flow of floating structures and scattering particles forms a sensorial atmosphere in which the world and existence permeate one another. Her work prepares such a fragile structure, suggesting the possibility that within it we may remain as unfamiliar beings who do not converge toward a single center.
